In this interview, Zolo Mundur, the CEO of Codelex Legaltech, spoke with Syed Mustafa Mahdi, Managing Partner of Syed Mahdi Chambers (SMC) Law firm in Pakistan, about his law practice and his thoughts about using Lexub. 

ZM: Could you please introduce yourself and your law firm to us?

SMM: My name is Syed Mustafa Mahdi. I am a common law qualified lawyer with a professional experience of 10 years. I practice at the Bar in Sindh (High Court), Pakistan. I specialize in corporate law, aviation, hospitality, shipping, customs, construction, arbitration, financial markets, and cross-border transactions to which I aim to bring a commercial, pragmatic and organized approach. I qualified as a Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (“FCIArb”) and humbled to be one of the youngest Arbitrators to have achieved this distinguished title in Pakistan. My chamber Syed Mahdi Chambers (“SMC”) is a full-service chamber with a team of professionals who advise national and international large companies, institutions, and governments on a wide range of issues ranging from M&A, equity, capital markets, dispute resolution, banking and finance, projects, infrastructure and energy, taxation, regulations, policies, and litigation.

ZM: How do you imagine the future of the legal industry and profession?

SMM: Day by day, the legal profession is increasingly becoming the talk of the town. Accordingly, I believe that the emerging talent of the new generation, with advanced resources and proper guidelines, can do wonders in the legal industry. As long as we, lawyers, are open to knowledge and keep updating ourselves with the law changes, a bright future is guaranteed.

ZM: What do you think are the advantages of Lexub? Would you recommend it to other lawyers?

SMM: Lexub has created a platform very convenient for lawyers all around the world. Firstly, it acts as a global market for lawyers or firms looking for legal documents. It enables lawyers to represent their country which will further increase exposure and connection between different countries.
