Lexub experience: An interview with Batbuyan Sodnomjamts, Partner of MDS KhanLex Law firm in Mongolia

In this interview, Zolo Mundur, the CEO of Codelex Legaltech, spoke with Batbuyan Sodnomjamts, a partner of MDS KhanLex Law firm in Mongolia, about how law firms can make use of Lexub’s newly introduced Firm-level account.

ZM: Could you please introduce yourself and your law firm briefly?

BS: I’m Batbuyan Sodnomjamts, a partner of  MDS KhanLex LLP, a law firm in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We are one of the largest law practices in Mongolia. We primarily advise our clients on matters related to complex financial and corporate transactions, as well as infrastructure and mining law practice.

ZM: What do you think are the advantages of Lexub? Would you recommend it to other lawyers?

BS: Our partners started using Lexub from its launch. Because, as lawyers, we sometimes have legal documents that reflect our expertise but we can’t make repeated use of. Lawyers also ask each for other legal document examples from time to time. Lexub enables lawyers to share or license these documents to other lawyers. This gives us a chance to generate revenue from historical documents without spending additional time, and also to build new relationships by displaying our expertise.

I think lawyers can be cautious about concepts like Lexub in the beginning. However, I highly encourage lawyers and law firms to give Lexub a try; to really get the concept because there is no cost for you to start offering documents on Lexub. Plus, the registration and document upload are very simple.

ZM: Lexub recently introduced Firm-level accounts for innovative firms. How do you think law firms can make use of this feature?

BS: We are very happy to have created our storefront on Lexub. With the new option to register as a law firm, firms can create a firm account separate from its individual lawyers. This means, all documents uploaded by your firm can be accessed from your firm profile. We have already set this up for our firm (MDS Khanlex firm profile on Lexub). I think being able to list documents as a firm will suit some lawyers and firms better to be able to promote and represent their firm, because some individual lawyers at firms might have initially been hesitant to list documents by themselves. It gives law firms a very easy and free way to share and connect with other lawyers.

So then, by simply sharing your firm profile link to others, you can invite them to your very own storefront, which displays your expertise. This is a useful tool. There are many options and opportunities for firms to then share their firm profile to connections and potential purchasers.

As for us, we also took a step further by creating a special tab “Buy legal documents” on our website and linked the page to our documents on Lexub. This way, people who visited your website can directly go to your storefront from there.

ZM: Thank you very much for your time and answers.

BS: Thank you.
